Dee was born in Virginia and raised in Florida, the oldest of 4 children. She attended high school and college in Florida, where she earned an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing. After working several years at Tampa General Hospital, working her way up from staff nurse to Head Nurse on a medical surgical floor, she moved to beautiful South Carolina and settled in Rock Hill. She worked at Divine Savior Hospital as the 3-11 supervisor and found she loved the folks of York County. She wanted to increase her nursing skills though, so she applied for Nurse Practitioner school and took off to Colorado to take a year-long master's level course. That was an interesting year! She learned to drive in the snow drifts along the Rockies, but she was grateful to be back on this side of the Mississippi.
She worked as an intern for a local doctors' group, and then an opportunity came open for home care nursing. What she thought would be a year of making home visits and seeing clients, turned into 16. Along the way, she was honored with being nominated the first Home Care Nurse of the year by the South Carolina Home Care Association. She found her current love when she joined the staff of York County Adult Day Services and began her work with the seniors and adults of York County in 2003.
Dee is married with one teenage daughter at home, three grown step-children, and a vivacious 3 year old grand daughter who lives in the lower part of the state. Dee and her husband enjoy the accomplishments of their family. Their house is also populated by an elderly Jack Russel and her daughter's rather large and sometimes cranky red eared slider turtle! She enjoys playing the piano at church, cooking, traveling, and reading.
